Imagine, you jump in the car, flip on the radio, and all of a sudden, your ears perk up…
“Hold up, that’s me!!” you shout to yourself as you sit beaming and listening to the voiceover commercial you recorded, from home, for a huge brand because you’re a major VO artist.
Not too long ago, you were feeling a bit stuck with work, you wanted something on the side that was fresh, imaginative and coin collecting. Voiceover work seemed totally cool but the industry itself seemed like a tough nut to crack… that was, until you stopped trying to do it alone
Spent waaay too much on unnecessary tech. And took the long route around the roller rink. Skinned knees and all (wouldn't recommend).
So after I found my groove in the industry, I made it my mission to bridge the gap between mediocre gigs and top-end gigs for freelance talent.
4 years into full pelt professional VO gig, and I've cracked the code! I've worked with the likes of Jetstar, Cancer Council, and Brisbane City Council.
Unlike voice over bigwigs who may swindle you with recommendations for the best tech in town, I truly believe all you need is a closet, a low-cost mic and the #streetwise steps to start your own voiceover side gig.
And for those wondering... yep, I still record from my wardrobe
