I mean, I get it. You don’t hear about this at your Year 12 Careers Exhibition. So how did this all start for me?
Let me take you back to 2012, when I was studying a Bachelor of Music. I took one uni unit on voiceovers, and let me tell you, it blew my mind. Standing in front of that mic for the first time, I knew I was onto something weird and wonderful. But did I jump immediately into the VO game? Pfff, that’s way too obvious.
No, I took a detour through a dance career and even solo backpacked around the world.
It wasn't until 2019 that I found myself in a new city, armed with a secondhand mic and a desire to learn everything there is to know about voiceovers. The 9-5 desk job grind just wasn't for me – so I thought, hang on. If I throw everything I have at succeeding in the voiceover world, I’m 99% sure I can make this happen and dodge being chained to a desk for the rest of my working life.
